Brothers of Alpha,

As the New Year comes in tonight, I would like to wish you very successful year and encourage brothers to trudge forward. As you all know, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. does not take steps backwards. As we ponder on the last year let us continue to learn from our mistakes and expand our achievements....

I have had a joyous time serving as your Assistant District Director and am so thankful to have had the experience. Half of my term is gone, but that leaves me months to continue serving you with all my might.

Thank all of of the brothers who have worked countless hours in order to continue the progress in 104 years of Excellence.

Fraternal Application Process

Candidates seeking membership into Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. will have a slightly different process to obtaining an official application from the fraternity.  The major changes are listed below:

• Candidates will need to obtain two sponsors from the chapter BEFORE they can obtain an application.  They will need Brothers e-mail address and Membership ID's to obtain an application. 
• All payments for membership are made via AlphaNET.  No money orders should be given to the District Director. 
• Completely new hardcopy application.  Any Candidate with an old version of the membership application will need to obtain a new one.

2010 FOUNDERS DAY -- Columbus, OH

Brothers of Alpha Rho Lambda convened, in Columbus, Ohio, with surrounding chapters for the 3rd Annual Jewel Awards Luncheon held at the Columbus Hyatt Regency on Saturday, Dec. 4. Ohio District Director Willis Lonzer, Ohio Assistant District Director Frederick Cox, and former Western Region Vice President Kenneth Venable were in attendance. Bro. Please click here for the 105th Anniversary Convention | 91st General Convention in Chicago, Illinois on June 21-25, 2011. Remember that EARLY REGISTRATION ENDS DECEMBER 31, 2010 and there will be NO ONSITE REGISTRATION.

This year’s convention will feature the 58th Anniversary of Brother Dr. King's initiation into Alpha, town hall on gang violence and killings in Chicago, and the celebrated "Sons of Alpha" production featuring the sons of noted brothers including Cornel West, Paul Robeson, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Adam Clayton Powell to name a few. If you attended the "Daughters of Alpha," you will not want to miss this.

SPACE WILL BE LIMITED for this Convention . There will be a cut-off and there will be no guarantee of convention materials for brothers or incomplete registrations after March 1, 2011.

The brothers of Chicago have already begun their work assisting the convention-planning team and corporate office staff to make Alpha's historic visit to Chicago one of our best conventions ever. The 2011 Chicago Convention is a convention you do not want to miss. 

Registration will increase on January 1, 2011, so you will want to REGISTER EARLY ! Please take advantage of Alpha’s convenient payment plan and lock in your fee now.

37TH ANNUAL OHIO DISTRICT CONFERENCE

Brothers convened at the University of Toledo, at the call of Bro. Dr. Willis L. Lonzer, III, Dirstrict Director, and Bro.Frederick L Cox, III, Assistant Dirstrict Director, in Toledo, Ohio. They met from November 12-14, 2010 under the theme of "Securing Our Future through Advocacy and Service."

Highlights included Officer and Committe Reports. Additional programming includes an Alpha Legend Award presentation to the Hon. Bro. Ray Miller at the Fraternal Luncheon and Oratorical competition in the Ingman Room.
