FAREWELL -- Bro. Dr. Willis Lonzer, IPDD, OH

Bro. Dr. Willis L. Lonzer, 11th District Director of Ohio
April 16, 2012

Dear Brothers,

It is my hope that this letter finds you all well.

As I leave the office of District Director, I am pleased and grateful for the support of the men of our district. I would like to personally acknowledge all brothers who supported our administration and me personally during my tenure. I am very grateful and appreciative for every brother, every talent and contribution given to uplift our community, people, and fraternity. I would attempt to provide names, but fear that I would omit someone worthy of recognition.

Please know that I am eternally grateful to all brothers who served Alpha Phi Alpha tirelessly during my administration. I also would like to acknowledge my chapter brothers of Eta Tau Lambda chapter for their continued support in all that I do....

To the incoming district director and officers, I wish you God’s speed and great success.

Finally, to the men of the Great District of Ohio, thank you again for entrusting the helm of our district to me. May God always bless you, your families, and our beloved Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.

'06!

Fraternally and sincerely,

Willis Lonzer, Ph.D.
Immediate Past District Director, Ohio

The Alpha Train is coming ....

Congratulations! to the Brothers celebrating their anniversaries in the game. For those men crossing the burning sands during the district's approved Membership Intake Process (MIP), for the Fraternity -- welcome.

The neos ought to be sporting their  regulation blazers and accessories at the Midwest Region Convention in Minneapolis. Brothers from the Ohio District will be celebrating with Mu Chapter at its Centennial April 12-15, 2012.

Brothers are encouraged to add new members to our Facebook page who are or have been linked to Ohio chapters. Identify your chapter, line brothers and director of membership, and the crossing date.

Remember that the brothers of Xi Chapter will be celebrating their centennial later this year, in October. Find a probate, step show, or upcoming stroll competition to support near you....

MLK OBSERVANCE -- 2012

The legislative branch of the United States of America took over 15 years to formally accept the day we observe as a tribute to Bro. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., (Omega Chapter). Steve Wonder's song, "Happy Birthday" reminds us of the termerity of an infamous representative on record for stating that we will not be "bullied" into making MLK Day into law....

His speech, We shall overcome is telling in its strength and hope for people of color to continue to act courageaously in the face of denigration. The recent release of two movies, "The Help" and "Red Tails," provide some context for the historical documentation of offenses to our heritage's and the struggle cursory to the civil rights movement.

Take time to read, watch and listen to reference the links attached.... Remember, celebrate and act--as distinguished representatives of fighters who survive, and not just annually--on the third Monday of January.

2012 -- Ohio District Transition Team

Sent via Alphanet, January 1, 2012

Dear Brothers of Ohio,
It is with great joy that we greet you in the name of Alpha as we embark upon the new year of 2012. This year has promise and it is up to us, both individually and collectively, to embrace this new season in our lives and in our dear fraternity.
As the District of Ohio’s newly elected District Director and Assistant District Director, it is our goal to ensure that we have a seamless transition of leadership. We are excited to announce that we will be assembling a district-wide transition team to make sure that goal is met.
The transition team, chaired by incoming District Executive Director Bro. Elder Larry McCrimager, will be comprised of college and alumni brothers from across the Ohio. These brothers will guide the transition process and make recommendations to improve the District at an operational and programmatic level.
