Confrere / CEO's

Seven years after Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., was formed, roots were established in Ohio. The first chapter to be chartered in Ohio was Kappa, at Ohio State University, Columbus, OH, on January 13, 1911. The first alumni chapter to be chartered in Ohio was Theta Lambda, Dayton, OH, on December 23, 1921.

Directories of Past Ohio Directors, as listed in the G.O.’s SPHINX magazine are shown below, beginning in 1963. These leaders included: Bros. Charles Nunn, Holloway Sells, Robert Stubblefield, Oliver Sumlin, and Paul Turner. At that time, Ohio offices across the state -- were apportioned by areas, named: Northeast, Northwest, Central, or Ohio West, Southeast and Southwest.

Ohio appears to be officially recognized as a District, in 1988. The first Ohio District Director named was Bro. Danny Boone (Omega Chapter). About the same time, the SPHINX removed district designations from its publications.
Darryl Peal (Omicron Rho '82), Sam DeShazior (Alpha Phi '81), Nathaniel Jay Young (Epsilon Alpha '81), Tim Ivey (Epsilon Alpha '81), Stan Hampton (Alpha Tau '83), Glen Stephens (Alpha Tau '83), Thomas Tatum (Alpha Phi '81) and Willis Lonzer (Gamma Sigma '86)
Information about the District Directors was taken from mentions made by individual Chapter News editorials. Gaps appear in the literature available for review. If you should have information that would complete this Roster, please comment below.
